Presidents Potpourri:
Members judge CGHS senior projects
T
his is the last message youll receive from us as co-
Presidents and we want to thank you for the support
youve given to Branch and community activities this past
year. Petalumas Sesquicentennial continues to be impor-
tant to Petalumans and many Branch members contributed to the
success of the festivities so far and will do so throughout 2008.
Weve been proud to be the Branchs public face as co-presidents
but it would be a difficult and unrewarding job if you werent doing
all the heavy lifting. The time and effort so many of you put into
general and section activities, as well as State-sponsored missions
like Tech Trek and State Convention, is quite amazing. Addition-
ally, many of you hold leadership positions in other civic organiza-
tions including city government and important non-profit agencies.
Its inspiring to watch AAUW women at work in our community.
The Branch welcomed more than a dozen new members this year
and we are looking forward to getting to know them better as we
move into a new AAUW year. The Branch survey conducted this
Spring revealed once again that there are multiple reasons women
(and a few men) value their membership. Your new Leadership
team will work hard to provide programs that offer fun, fellowship,
and opportunities for service. Collaborative action is what empow-
ers AAUW, at Association, State, or Branch level.
The new Value Promise states, By joining AAUW, you belong to a
community that breaks through educational and economic barriers
so all women have a fair chance. This Promise was just intro-
duced at convention, but its message is one that Petaluma women
have always taken to heart.
Thanks for the opportunity to participate in Branch leadership this
past year.
Kay Kerriden and Nancy Sutton, Immediate Past Co-Presidents
T
HANK YOU to all the branch members who participated.
We made a huge presence! Special kudos to Kathleen
Collins and Mady Cloud who each judged three times.
Kathy Schmidt and Nancy Sutton each judged two times.
Patty Shribbs, Doris (and Ike) Tolks, Eleanor Hodge, Greta Vigue,
Patti (and Bob) Prichard, MaryAnn Kendall, and Karen Johnson,
all found time in their busy schedules to support the senior pro-
jects by volunteering to judge.
This is a great way to end our 2007-2008 branch year!
Nancy Sutton, Co-President (lame duck)
