Linda Hallman named new AAUW Executive Director
T
he American Association of University
Women (AAUW) is pleased to welcome
Linda D. Hallman as its new executive di-
rector. Most recently, she served as vice
president of policy and government strategy, exter-
nal and member relations, with the National Alli-
ance for Health Information Technology (NAHIT).
She has served as executive director of the Ameri-
can Medical Womens Association (AMWA) and
AMWA Foundation and as president and chief ex-
ecutive officer of the American Horticultural Society
(AHS). She also served for nine years as soprano
soloist with the U.S. Army Band and Chorus at Fort
Myer, Virginia.
AAUW has been undergoing a major strategic
process initiative as part of the revitalization of our
more than 125-year-old organization. We are very
pleased to have Linda as AAUWs executive direc-
tor at this pivotal time in our history, and it is with
great enthusiasm that we welcome her as a mem-
ber of our leadership team and as an AAUW mem-
ber, said AAUW President Ruth Z. Sweetser.
Hallmans role as executive director of AAUW in-
cludes overseeing the Association, the AAUW Edu-
cational Foundation, and the AAUW Leadership
and Training Institute.
Hallman earned a masters degree in organiza-
tional management from George Washington Uni-
versity and a bachelors degree in music education
from Indiana University. She has acquired exten-
sive continuing professional development and is
affiliated with relevant organizations for profession-
als in the field, including ASAE & The Center for
Association Leadership.
