Petaluma Sesquicentennial
S
everal of our Branch members are serving on Petaluma's 150th Celebration committee. Plans are underway for a
full year of activities. The March 2008 general meeting held on March 13, 2008 will be our Branch contribution to
the celebration. The topic is "Women in Petaluma's History."
Since Esther Schau has been attending the committee meetings representing AAUW, she thought it would be a good
time to bring you up to date.
1. Katherine Reinhardt has applied to the National Historical Trust to designate Petaluma as one of the Top 10
"Distinctive Destinations" in the U. S.
2. A Commemorative book of Petaluma historical and current photos (B&W and colored), including essays, will be
published. Retail cost is estimated to be $34.95. 2,000 copies will be printed and will be available at locations
throughout Petaluma.
3. Commemorative note cards, decorative eggs and boxes, possibly T-shirts or tote bags will also be sold. More gift
items are being discussed. A penny stamping machine will be set up downtown.
4. The Mayor's Gala is scheduled for March 28 at the Veterans Building. Ticket Price TBD.
5. A 4th of July Celebration will be held at the Fairgrounds. It will begin in the afternoon. There will be art activities for
children, food and drinks for sale, live entertainment and hopefully fireworks. The full program is in development.
6. The General Committee meets at the Community Center on the first Tuesday of the month, beginning at 4 pm.
7. The Mayor's Gala Committee meets at the Community Center on the second Friday of the month at noon.
8. The next 4th of July committee meetings will be held at the Fairgrounds on November 14th and December 19th
beginning at 8:30 am.

Napa Branch to Host Title 9 Anniversary Meeting
Hello to all from Napa County Branch:
We want to officially invite you to attend our November 17, 2007 Title IX XXXV Anniversary meeting, and have at-
tached a reservation form to be distributed to your members. (Note: The form will be available at the Nov. 8 Petaluma
meeting). Please forward the information and, as indicated on the form, send payment to Beth Bywater by November
14. Beth will be doing nametags, and it would be helpful if the attendees could indicate which branch they are from.
We look forward to seeing many new faces from all our nearby branches, and we have invited Fremont as our special
"out of area" branch to attend as well. We have a wonderful AAUW speaker, Alicia Hetman, and the panel discussion
should also be very interesting.
Hope to see you all on November 17. If you have questions, or need additional information, please contact our Pro-
gram Co-chairs (e-mails above) Mimi Formosa, Mary Kay Kaltreider and Keeta Lewis.
