AAUW Petaluma Branch - Volume 53 - No. 3 - November 2007
P
etaluma AAUW members and the extended community are invited to
learn more about a vibrant education program for those 50 years of
age and older at Sonoma State University. On Thursday, November 8,
Executive Director, Lou Miller, Ph.D., and Professor and Board of Directors
Member, Bernie Goldstein, Ph.D. (aka Provost Emeritus, SSU) of the Osher
Lifelong Learning Program will share the podium. The event will be held at
the Petaluma Woman’s Club, 518 B St., from 7-9 pm.
A model for the more than 110 Osher Institutes from Maine to Hawaii, OLLI
at SSU has gained in popularity each year since its inception in 2001. Now
serving more than 700 students from Napa to Healdsburg at two locations,
the Institute offers courses in three eight-week segments in subjects ranging from art to mathe-
matics.
Director Miller, a retired Professor from the Hutchins School of Liberal Arts and talented ceramic
artist, will present an overview of the Program and future offerings.  Professor Goldstein, who has
taught eight courses for Osher LLI may dip into everyone’s favorite subject of human sexuality or
transition to his passion of opera.
Those attending can, most certainly, expect an entertaining evening. Information on how to be-
come a participant in Osher programs will also be provided.
AAUW members may contact Esther Schau 765-1496 or Janet Rosselle 795-4525 for further in-
formation.
