P
State Convention in Rohnert Park: We Can Use Your Help
AAUW-CA Leadership
has issued the call for
State convention, to be
held at the Doubletree
Inn, Rohnert Park, April
4 - 6, 2008. And they are
counting on the Peta-
luma Branch to help
make this the best con-
vention ever. We will be
assisted by our sister
Branches from around our North Coast District,
which include nearby neighbors Santa Rosa,
Healdsburg, Sonoma, Marin Inc., and Novato, as
well as those a bit further away: Napa, Ukiah and
Willits and Humboldt.
Please read the following list of Local Arrangement
Chair (LAC) opportunities and call or email Tiffany
Renee, 766-9917, , to get
more information and volunteer, or to suggest a
Branch member you know has an expertise in a
particular area. Most committees will be made up
of a chair plus multiple committee members and
many activities require attendance at convention at
least one day, 4/4 - 4/6. But Tiff will need volun-
teers to create packets and badges ahead of time.
-
Chair of the LACs: Tiffany Renee, 766-9917,
-
Meeting Planner: Mickie Feicht ( Tiffs boss)
-
Assistant to the Co-Presidents:
Holly Butler did this one year when Sue Cochrane
was AAUW-CA President and can provide more
detailed information about duties.
-
Credentials:
Manage credentials for convention attendees. Con-
tested offices will require additional last-minute
changes after elections.
-
EF/LAF Basket Auction: Carolann Ford, AAUW-
CA EF VP
Branches bring baskets to be auctioned and assis-
tance is needed to set up the room; set up (silent)
auction sheets; collect monies from winners; etc.
-
Exercise:
Need someone to coordinate morning and evening
group exercise, walks, etc.
-
Hostess/Hospitality:
A few people will be needed to direct attendees,
assist speakers in finding their locations, etc.
-
Information Table:
Local area information will be provided (dining rec-
ommendations, churches, etc.). Handouts, Snap-
shots (daily newsletter), Evaluation drop-offs, vol-
unteer for next year sign-ups, etc.
-
Packets/Publicity:
Pre-convention publicity for someone who cannot
attend convention to get the word out to local
groups, newspapers, etc.
-
Pages:
Requires a well-organized person to coordinate
pages during the business sessions and work-
shops. Pages assist with microphones, evalua-
tions, and miscellaneous needs during sessions
and workshops. Certain pages will take notes for
Snapshots articles and the AAUW-CA Perspective.
-Registration:
Requires staffing of registration table throughout
the convention. Typically staffed somewhat by local
members not attending convention combined with
seasoned convention staffers.
-
Signs:
One to two energetic people to place signs each
day. Local members most helpful unless this is
someone also on another committee who will be
staying at the hotel.
-
Tellers:
A number of tellers will be required for the business
sessions to sit at tables and handle elections, vot-
ing, etc. Can be complex, requires good training
and a seasoned chair or teller who can instruct the
process.
-
Connections Corner:
Need coordinator. Someone with convention ex-
perience would be helpful, or she can connect with
past chair.
